Impatiens

A tall plant, about 50-60cm, great as a bedding plant with large numbers of orange flowers standing above the foliage.

Bright red chilli pepper shaped flowers, with dark narrow leaves. 20-25cms (8-10 inches).

A small leaved plant with masses of phlox pink flowers. A small bushy plant.

Beautiful dark green leaves with a bright pink mid-vein on a compact plant. Large white pouched and open mouthed flowers with orange/yellow spots.

Known as the 'Parrot Plant', this is an exceptionally bizarre and easy to grow plant. Pinch out growing tips to encourage side shoots. A bright position out of full summer sun is required. Feed and water the plants regularly during spring and summer. In winter reduce water but ensure the plants receive as much light as possible. Minimum temperature 10C (50F).

A beautiful white/green variegated form of the 'Parrot Plant'. Both forms of this Impatiens can make excellent plants in a sheltered border. Treat both forms in the same ways.

Impatiens repens is a yellow flowering Impatiens. Native to Sri Lanka, but unfortunately may now be possibly extinct in its native habitat.
This delicate trailing type Impatiens has lovely yellow snapdragon like flowers, tiny green leaves and is ideal for a hanging basket in the home or conservatory. It requires a bright position but avoid direct sunlight. Compost is best kept on the moist side and feed once a week with a high potash feed such as Dibley’s food tablets, Phostrogen or Tomato feed. Minimum temperature 10C (50F). Flowering period Summer/Spring.
