Kay Rees Davies
lives on the North Wales coast. Two of her paintings are now in the permanent collection of the Hunt Institute. In 1996 the RHS purchased two of her paintings for the Lindley Library. These were part of an exhibition of Ivies from the national Hedera Collection shown at the RHS, for which she was awarded a Gold Medal. One of these was purchased for the Shirley Sherwood Collection. (Two of these painting are currently in the gallery stock). A second Gold Medal was awarded in 1998 for a set of paintings of Old Apple Varieties. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and was awarded its Certificate of Botanical Merit in 1994. Her work has been published in 'An Introduction to Drawing Flowers' by Margaret Stevens; 'Plantas Endemicas e Avores Indiginas de Carbo Verde' by T. Levens, 1995 Bonn University, Germany; 'Contemporary Botanical Artists, The Shirley Sherwood Collection' , London 1996 and in 'Curtis's Botanical Magazine' 1997. Kay Rees-Davies
is a founder member and vice-president of the North Wales Society
of Botanical and Fine Watercolour Artists and in 1996, 1998 and 1999
received the Society's award for Botanical Art. She is a member of
the Botanical Artists of Ness Gardens and has recently been elected
to serve on the Executive Committee. She has been a tutor there for
several years. She holds her own classes at Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales
and has held workshops and day classes throughout the country. |
